Privacy Policy
Dear Little You
Developed by EDSDEV INC
Effective Date: June 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how EDSDEV INC ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Dear Little You ("the App"). EDSDEV INC is an organisation registered in Canada, located at 11-300 Earl Grey Dr Suite 208, Kanata, K2T 1C1, Canada.
Dear Little You is a private journal for parents: a space to write letters, record milestones, save quotes, and keep photos and voice notes for your children, to share with them one day.
Your memories are private by default. Letters, milestones, photos, and voice notes are visible only to you, unless you explicitly choose to share specific entries with people you invite (your "Village"). We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
1. Information We Collect
We collect and process the following types of information:
- Account Identifier: When you first open the App, a unique identifier is generated via Firebase Authentication so your content can be saved and synced. Today this is an anonymous identifier that does not contain personal information. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google in a future version, we receive the name and email address those providers share, which are used only to secure and identify your account.
- Your Content: The letters, milestones, quotes, reflections, and notes you write, together with any children's profiles you create (such as a name and date of birth), photos you attach, and voice notes you record. This content is stored in Google Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage, associated with your account, so it is available across your devices.
- Voice Notes and Dictation: When you record a voice note, the audio is stored as part of your content. When you use dictation to write an entry, your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google) transcribes your speech to text; this is governed by your device operating system's privacy settings.
- AI-Assisted Features: If you use writing prompts, dictation clean-up, or generated reflections, the relevant text or audio is sent through our secure Google Cloud Functions to Google Cloud services (Speech-to-Text and Vertex AI / Gemini) to produce the result, which is then returned to your App and stored with your content.
- Sharing and Invitations ("Village"): If you invite someone to your Village, we generate an invite code. People who accept can read only the entries you have explicitly marked as shared. They cannot see your private entries, and they cannot edit anything.
- Subscription Information: If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage and verify subscriptions; it receives a purchase receipt and an app-specific user identifier. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
- Reminders: The App can schedule local notifications on your device (for example, gentle reminders to write). These are generated on your device; we do not collect data through them.
We do not use third-party advertising, and the App does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
2. How We Use Information
We use the collected information solely to provide the App's functionality:
- Core Functionality: Storing and syncing your memories so they are available on your devices and ready to share with your children one day.
- AI Assistance: Generating writing prompts, cleaning up dictated text, and creating reflections when you request them.
- Sharing: Allowing the people you invite to read the entries you have chosen to share.
- Subscriptions: Unlocking premium features and verifying your subscription status.
3. Information About Children
Dear Little You is intended for use by adults (parents and guardians). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or provide information directly.
The App allows you, the adult account holder, to record memories that may include information about your own children (such as a name, date of birth, photos, or milestones). This information is provided and controlled by you. It is private by default, stored securely, never sold, and only shared with the people you personally invite. You can edit or delete this content at any time.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate the App:
- Google Firebase: Backend infrastructure including Firestore (database), Firebase Authentication, Firebase Storage, and Cloud Functions. See the Firebase Privacy and Security page.
- Google Cloud (Speech-to-Text and Vertex AI / Gemini): Processes text or audio for AI-assisted features when you use them. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Manages and verifies in-app subscriptions. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: Process in-app subscription purchases. See the Apple and Google privacy policies.
These services may process data as described in their respective privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your content is retained for as long as your account exists, so your memories remain available to you.
- You can delete individual entries, photos, voice notes, and children's profiles within the App at any time.
- You can request deletion of your entire account and all associated content by contacting us at the address below; we will delete it from Firestore and Firebase Storage.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@edsdev.ca. You may also delete most data directly within the App.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL), and access to your content is restricted by server-side security rules so that only you (and the people you invite, for shared entries) can read it. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
